Seafolly was famous for its line up. With world class models it was a site that deserved absolute focus and attention on the product. This ultra clean simple design allowed the models and swimsuits to pop off the page. With a bold move away from Flash for iPad compatibility we introduced the latest in javascript technologies to improve user experience and interactivity.

MINKPINK needed control over all their website content. They were producing hundreds of new SKU’s ever six weeks and this product needed to be updated on the site regularly. Without a CMS this task proved impossible. STEAM changed that with the build out of 5 of their brand sites. Minkpink, Quirky Circus, Lost girls, Staple and Somedays Lovin’.

STEAM developed a new concept in online shopping for MarketHQ. We built an e-commerce solution around the ability to purchase an entire “look”. We developed the workflow and online application (Co-ordinatR) which allowed the mapping of interactive rollovers fully styled photos. This meant that users could purchase an entire look with a single click as opposed to the traditional method of having to trawl through pages of individual products and having to use their own judgement and imagination to put things together.

e-learning systems have come a long way but there is still an enormous amount of opportunity to improve the whole e-learning experience. It isn’t easy to produce an e-learning system that is both easy to use as well as engaging. We set out to tackle this problem with the everydaycents e-learning program. The system that we developed was founded on our custom CMS, STEAM-ENGINE, and through the API allowed a significant amount of custom applications to be built around the content. The site consisted of hundreds of pages of interactive workbooks, learning information as well as video, all shot and produced at STEAM. We wanted to go for a seamless look with the talent shot over a white cyc allowing him to blend into the white canvas of the site.

Brain training has become big business and the Brain Department had a vision to take it to the corporate market. STEAM was there to help them do it. We didn’t just build the corporate brochureware site, we built the complete online application that managed clients, their campaigns and their uses. We built this in our very own STEAM-ENGINE; our customised CMS built power on “Rails” framework.

The ASTRA website required a complete overhaul in 2010 and we gave it one. So to speak.

We developed a secure members only forum as well as a set of e-marketing templates giving the ASTRA team complete control over their ongoing e-communication.

Sick of having to stuff courier bags with tapes of hundreds of Hardware House commercials back in the late nineties, Brett and Julian conceived a ludicrous notion of sending the commercials digitally to the stations. After all, we were using one of the first digital non-linear editing systems, so “surely we could just send the file rather than having to dump it to analogue tape”.

Seems bloody obvious now doesn’t it but we were told at the time by a Channel 7 broadcast engineer “It will never happen!

We’ll that crazy idea came to life and that business is Adstream.

While we’re not directly involved in the Adstream business on a day to day basis we continue to work with adstream in a consultative capacity. We’ve designed everything from the latest UI of the adstream4 application through to conceptualising designing and executing their marketing activities. They refer to us as their “agency” although it’s generally a term we try to avoid.
